Friendly v Riverside

Date : 27th November 2017

Venue : Riverside Primary School

Result : Riverside 0 Hockley 1

Today we visited Riverside Primary in Hullbridge for a friendly.
A hard Parish Cup game coming up against Wyburns on Wednesday, so wanted to give the boys some game time leading up to it.
At Riverside we were faced with a small pitch and white lining disappearing by the second.
The boys started the game as I thought they would, quite slow, giving the ball away, no shape, confirming my reasons for booking this game.
Riverside was quite a athletic quick attacking side, so was going to be tough.
First half with just showing glimpses of our capability but unable to finish chances we created or forced, and Riverside to be fair got themselves into good areas but with no end product.

Half time 0v0.

I talked about the importance of playing the right way and addressing not one of them can go out there and just do what they want, they need to play as a team and to let me know if they don’t fancy doing that.
Two changes made as Jacob wasn’t able to be there through illness, and we started to look promising on the ball, chance after chance came our way but just couldn’t put it away, Riverside were counter attacking so was still a big threat.
2 minutes left on the clock and a three pass move found Charles who sweetly tucked the ball into far corner.
So game finished 0v1 , boys were up against a good team , but dug in and got their rewards.
Well done all .
